The Egyptian government launched an ambitious national initiative to develop the local governance system across all governorates of the republic. The initiative encompasses modernizing the management of public utilities, enhancing transparency in expenditure, and activating effective community participation mechanisms in drawing up development plans for regions.

The initiative, prepared in cooperation with local experts and international organizations specializing in good governance, relies on deploying digital technology to improve the quality of government services and raise the level of interaction between citizens and government bodies, with a focus on the most vulnerable segments of society.

The Prime Minister confirmed at the press conference launching the initiative that the primary goal is to transform governorates into effective centers capable of attracting investments and creating jobs, noting that the government has allocated billions of pounds to support this initiative over the next three years.

As part of the initiative, a unified digital platform will be developed allowing citizens to track development projects in their areas, interact with local officials, and submit complaints and suggestions directly and effectively. Extensive training workshops will also be held to qualify administrative personnel in the governorates.
